Your first carp?

Can you remember catching your first carp?
Was it by design, or was you fishing for something else it the time?

Do you have a story to go with it!!

Caught my first carp whilst maggot drowning on a local pond, 1/2 an acre of shopping trolleys and old ford escorts, only had about 6 maggots with me, I must have been 12 or so?

I was catching some whoppers, at least over 2ozs, perch and roach when the float dipped, the already sucked to death maggot had been snaffled again, I lifted the rod and was nearly pulled in!! For the next 20 mins I played this moby of a fish gingerley in and out of other anglers swims, round and round the lake, until finally she was mine, I gazed down in the landing net and slipped the fish into my keepnet, I ran all the way home and blurted out to my mum I had caught a whopper, we went back to the lake and lifted out my prize, photos done it was onto the scales that an old boy fishing up from me had leant me, the dial spun round to 4lb 3oz and I was happy as larry!!!
